Cardinals Bring Back Zay Jones as WR Room Thins Out Fast
Arizona reunites with the 31-year-old receiver after losing Jalen Brooks (just 13 PPR points in 2026) to season-ending IR.

Depth signing with murky role — no fantasy value until a snap count emerges.
- Jones, 31, is in his 9th NFL season
- Played 11 games for ARI in 2024, 8 last year
- Brooks (13 PPR pts in 2026) hit season-ending IR Tuesday
- Cardinals thin at WR since Oct. 11 Harrison trade
- Texans cut Jones in August preseason
The Cardinals are circling back to a familiar face. Arizona is signing wide receiver Zay Jones, according to multiple reports, with the move coming the same day the team placed Jalen Brooks on season-ending injured reserve. Brooks leaves behind a quiet line — 5 catches for 81 yards and no scores across 7 games in 2026, good for just 13 PPR points.
It's not yet clear whether Jones lands on the practice squad or the active roster, but the timing isn't subtle. Arizona's receiver depth has been stretched thin since trading Marvin Harrison Jr. on Oct. 11, and the Brooks injury only widens the gap. Jones gives them a veteran body who already knows the building.
Who Is Zay Jones Right Now
This is a reunion, not a reclamation. Jones, 31, suited up 11 times for the Cardinals in 2024 and eight more last season, though both years came with interruptions — a suspension in 2024 and a torn Achilles in 2025. He became available in August when the Texans cut him out of the preseason, so Arizona is getting a known quantity at a position of real need.
The Achilles recovery is the elephant in the room. A player a year removed from that injury, signed off the street in late October, is not walking into a featured role. He's here to fill snaps, not to anchor a passing game.
The Fantasy Fallout
For redraft managers, this is a non-event in the short term. Brooks was never a startable piece — our rankings had him #352 overall and #136 at the position before the IR move — so his absence doesn't shift the pecking order much. Jones arrives without a defined role, and veterans in his situation typically need a week or two just to carve out meaningful reps.
Bottom line: leave Jones on waivers for now. If Arizona activates him and he clears 40-plus percent of the snaps, revisit — but until a real role materializes, there's nothing here for your lineup. File this one under watch-and-wait.
