Commanders Add LB Curtis Jacobs to 90-Man Roster After UFL Run

Washington has plugged another body into its offseason roster, signing linebacker Curtis Jacobs to bring the 90-man group up to full strength. The move comes on the heels of the Cowart signing, when the Commanders released two players — meaning no additional corresponding cuts were needed to fit Jacobs in.

Jacobs arrives with a thin but real NFL résumé. He appeared in three games for the Titans last season, logging 39 special teams snaps, and before that played nine games for the Patriots in 2024 with four tackles to his name. His most recent live reps came in the UFL, where he posted 42 tackles, two tackles for loss, a sack and a fumble recovery across 10 games for the DC Defenders.

That UFL production is the reason he's on a roster at all. A double-digit-tackle spring in a developmental league doesn't guarantee anything, but it flags a player who was healthy, productive and worth a summer look. For a Washington linebacker room fighting for the back end of the depth chart, that's exactly the profile you sign in August.

Here's the honest read: Jacobs is a special-teams and depth prospect, not a projected contributor. His NFL snap count to date has been almost entirely on coverage units, and nothing in his file suggests a defensive rotation role is coming. Making the 53 will likely hinge on how much he can offer on kicks and punts.

For fantasy purposes, there's simply nothing to act on. Jacobs carries no meaningful IDP value entering camp — he's not a lineup consideration in any standard or deep IDP format, and he doesn't dent Washington's fantasy picture on offense or defense. He's a name to file away, not a name to roster.

Bottom line: leave Jacobs on the wire. If he sticks and starts eating defensive snaps due to injuries ahead of him, revisit — but that's a September-or-later conversation, and even then his ceiling reads as a low-end deep-league dart at best.
