The Cowboys shuffled their linebacker room Saturday, elevating Justin Barron and Curtis Robinson from the practice squad ahead of Sunday's game. Both are temporary call-ups and will revert to the practice squad once the final whistle blows.
The reason is straightforward: Dallas ruled DeMarvion Overshown out this week with a hamstring injury. That opens a start for rookie Jaishawn Barham, who steps into the lineup and — just as importantly for the defense — inherits the green dot, meaning he'll be the one relaying play calls from the sideline.
The two elevations are depth insurance more than featured pieces. Barron logged special-teams snaps in just two games for Dallas last season (2025). Robinson brings a bit more resume, having appeared in 14 games with three starts for the 49ers in 2025 before landing on the Cowboys' practice squad.
The Fantasy Fallout
For IDP managers, the name to circle is Barham. A green-dot rookie who's suddenly the on-field signal-caller tends to stay on the field for every defensive snap, and snap volume is the single biggest driver of linebacker tackle numbers. That's the profile of a player who can quietly stack solo stops.
The catch is the sample size — this is a rookie making his first meaningful start, and Overshown's absence may only be a one-week thing. Barron and Robinson, meanwhile, are practice-squad bodies here for depth and special teams; neither belongs anywhere near a fantasy roster.
Bottom line: if you're in a deep IDP league and hunting for a Sunday flier, Barham is the one to watch. Snap count and the play-calling duties give him a floor most spot-starters don't have. Just don't pay a premium until you see how the reps and the Overshown timeline shake out.
