Davante Adams Out 6-10 Weeks: Rams Eye Trade for George Pickens
Adams ruptured his hamstring in Week 6 and won't return until December. The Rams are shopping for a receiver — and Pickens tops the wish list.

A trade to the NFL's No. 2 passing offense would spike his ceiling.
- Adams out 6-10 weeks, back in December at earliest
- Pickens: 33 rec, 428 yds, 1 TD through 6 games
- Rams rank 2nd in NFL in passing yards per game
- Pickens' franchise tag worth $27.3M, ~$18.2M prorated
- NFL trade deadline is Nov. 10
The Rams' injury-wrecked season just got worse. Davante Adams ruptured his hamstring in the Week 6 loss to Arizona and is expected to miss six to 10 weeks, with December being the best-case return. Before the injury, Adams was humming — 30 catches, 480 yards and four touchdowns over six games, good for 102 PPR points and our No. 10 fantasy ranking at the position.
That's a massive hole in an offense that ranks second in the NFL in passing yards per game. Per ESPN, Los Angeles plans to at least explore a trade for a receiver, and if you know anything about GM Les Snead, exploring usually turns into dealing. The Nov. 10 deadline gives him a window, and the name linked loudest is Cowboys wideout George Pickens.
Why Pickens Makes Sense
Pickens is playing on the franchise tag and could walk after the season, which means Dallas risks getting nothing for him. At 2-4 in a weak division, the Cowboys are stuck between buying and selling — and owner Jerry Jones has publicly left the door open to moving a star if a blockbuster offer shows up, the kind they landed for Micah Parsons last year.
His numbers in Dallas have been quiet: 33 catches for 428 yards and a single touchdown through six games, 82 PPR points and our No. 20 receiver. But his form has ticked up slightly — the last five games are running 1.6 fantasy points above his season average. Drop him into the Rams' pass-heavy attack next to the reigning MVP, and the ceiling changes completely.
The catch, as always, is money and draft capital. Los Angeles is short on both. Pickens' deal is worth $27.3 million, and the Rams would owe the prorated chunk of roughly $18.2 million. Fitting that under a tight cap won't be simple, so this is a possibility, not a done deal.
The Other Names on the Board
If Pickens proves too expensive, there are cheaper routes. Jaguars receiver Brian Thomas Jr. looks buried in the doghouse — two straight weeks without a catch and a second-half benching in Sunday's loss to Houston. Coach Liam Coen framed it as a week-to-week thing, saying guys have to step up and make plays. Thomas' rookie contract runs through 2027, which makes him a bargain target.
There's also Jauan Jennings, who signed in Minnesota expecting a featured role and has instead posted two catches for nine yards through five games behind Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison. Jefferson has urged patience publicly, but a quiet trade request wouldn't shock anyone. And in Tennessee, Calvin Ridley is wasting away in the league's worst passing attack, with just five catches for 81 yards.
The Fantasy Fallout
Pickens is the clear buy-low. In Dallas he's a boom-or-bust WR3; attached to the Rams' offense and Matthew Stafford, he's a weekly WR2 with league-winning spike weeks. If you can pry him loose cheap in your dynasty or deeper redraft league right now, do it before any deal becomes official.
Adams managers are stuck stashing — a December return means an IR slot at best, with no guarantee he reclaims his No. 10 form coming off a ruptured hamstring. Watch the Jacksonville names too: a Thomas exit would bump Jakobi Meyers (61 PPR points, our No. 37 WR) back toward relevance. And if Carnell Tate (team-leading 29 catches, 344 yards as a rookie) sees even one veteran shipped out of Tennessee, his volume gets a quiet boost worth tracking.
