DeVonta Smith's Hamstring Could Cost Eagles' WR1 Multiple Weeks
Smith didn't practice Wednesday or Thursday and may miss two to three weeks — a problem for a WR who owns 38% of Philly's receiving yards.

Two back-to-back DNPs and multi-week hamstring buzz — bench him vs. LAR.
- Smith owns 38% of Eagles' receiving yards in 2025
- Accounts for 33% of team targets, 34% of receptions
- DNP Wednesday and Thursday for Week vs. Rams
- Report: could be a 2-3 week hamstring injury
- Rank #61 overall, WR17 — 202 PPR pts (2025)
DeVonta Smith is trending the wrong way, and fantasy managers need to pay attention fast. The Eagles' top receiver has been a full non-participant in both Wednesday's walkthrough-based estimated report and Thursday's practice ahead of Sunday's 1:00 PM kickoff against the Rams. NFL insider Mike Garafolo called him "legitimately questionable," and that's before you factor in reporting that he's expected to sit this week.
The bigger alarm: Eagles beat man Bo Wulf said he'd heard early in the week that Smith is likely to miss this game and possibly another, framing it as a potential two-to-three-week hamstring issue. That's a materially different timeline than last week, when Smith was a DNP Wednesday and Thursday before being upgraded to limited Friday and full Saturday ahead of Week 3 against Chicago. This time, there's been no mid-week bounce-back.
Why This Hurts the Eagles Offense
Smith isn't a complementary piece — he's the engine of this passing game. Through the 2025 season he's accounted for 33% of Philadelphia's targets, 34% of its receptions, 38% of its receiving yards, 20% of its receiving touchdowns, and 36% of its first downs. Lose that, and the Eagles are suddenly thin, especially with top tight end Dallas Goedert (185 PPR pts, our TE7 in 2025) also sidelined and Hollywood Brown missing practice this week.
If both Smith and Brown are out, Philly's healthy receiver room gets ugly in a hurry: Dontayvion Wicks, rookie Makai Lemon, Darius Cooper, Elijah Moore and Britain Covey, with Xavier Gipson on the practice squad. For context, Cooper has just 18 PPR points this season (our WR150) and Covey a measly 4 (WR190). There's no obvious one-for-one replacement, which means the volume gets spread across bodies you don't want in your lineup.
The Fantasy Takeaway
Smith is our WR17 and the #61 player overall, with 77 catches for 1,008 yards and four scores for 202 PPR points across 17 games in 2025 — though note his form has dipped, averaging 3.2 fewer fantasy points over his last five games than his season mark. He's a weekly starter when healthy, but you can't trust a receiver coming off two straight DNPs with multi-week injury chatter attached. Bench Smith against the Rams and have a streamer ready. If you're desperate in deeper leagues, Wicks is the likeliest Eagle to absorb snaps — just temper expectations, because this offense without Smith and Goedert isn't a place to go shopping for points.
