Dolphins Claim TE Jeremiah Franklin, Add DL Fatorma Mulbah

The Dolphins didn't wait long to pounce on a name that hit the wire. Miami claimed undrafted rookie tight end Jeremiah Franklin off waivers this week and stashed him on the 90-man roster, just a day after the Patriots cut him loose on Tuesday. Franklin arrives with a respectable college resume: 93 receptions for 1,010 yards and six touchdowns across 44 games at Boston College.

In the same round of moves, Miami also signed defensive lineman Fatorma Mulbah, who went undrafted out of West Virginia last year and logged practice-squad time with the Jets during the regular season. To clear space, the Dolphins placed defensive lineman Rene Konga on injured reserve and waived defensive end Seth Coleman-Lyles.

None of this is a headline that moves the needle in your league — yet. These are camp-and-depth-chart moves, the kind teams make dozens of in early August. But the tight end position is always worth a closer look in Miami, where snaps and targets can shift fast depending on health and scheme.

Franklin's profile reads like a classic developmental flier. Over a thousand college receiving yards is nothing to dismiss, but 44 games to get there tells you he wasn't a target hog. Going undrafted, then getting cut before he even reached final roster cuts elsewhere, means he's starting near the bottom of the depth chart and needs to earn every rep.

For fantasy purposes, there's simply no track record to lean on here. Franklin has zero NFL snaps, and he's competing just to survive the 90-to-53 crunch, let alone carve out a role that generates targets. Rookie tight ends rarely produce Year 1 even in ideal situations, and this isn't one.

The move: keep Franklin on your watch list and nothing more. If he flashes in the preseason and sticks on the 53, revisit — but for now he's a deep-league name-to-know, not an add. Mulbah and the defensive shuffle carry no redraft relevance in standard or even most IDP formats.
