Dolphins Poach OLB Andre Jones Jr. From Bills' Practice Squad

The Dolphins went shopping in a division rival's backyard, signing outside linebacker Andre Jones Jr. off the Bills' practice squad. Jones brings a modest resume: 19 career games with two starts split between Washington (2023-24) and Buffalo (2025), and a stat sheet reading eight tackles, three passes defensed and two special teams tackles.

A seventh-round pick by the Commanders in the 2023 draft, Jones was far more productive in college. At Louisiana he stacked up 209 tackles, 17.5 sacks and 30 tackles for loss across 65 games and 45 starts, adding four forced fumbles for good measure. That college tape is why teams keep giving him a helmet — the pro production just hasn't followed yet.

Miami didn't stop there. The team also signed long snapper Luke Basso to its practice squad. Basso came into the league as an undrafted free agent with Denver this spring, sticking through the offseason program and camp before getting cut. He was a first-team All-Big Ten pick at Oregon in 2024 across a 53-game college career.

The Fantasy Fallout

Let's be blunt: neither of these moves moves the needle for your fantasy roster. Jones is a rotational edge and special-teamer whose career high-water mark is two starts. He's the kind of body a team stashes for depth and injury insurance, not a player who's about to see snaps that generate IDP numbers in anything but the deepest of leagues.

The Basso signing is even further off the fantasy radar — long snappers don't score points anywhere. It's a housekeeping move as Miami sorts out its practice squad and special-teams depth chart heading into the week.
