A patchwork OL in London is a real threat to Hurts' floor this week.

Key numbers
  • Jurgens entered concussion protocol after Week 4
  • Eagles started a reshuffled OL vs. the Rams
  • Only Willie Lampkin, Micah Morris active as backups
  • Lane Johnson out Sunday for personal reasons
  • Dickerson on IR since after Week 1

The Eagles' offensive line went from a strength to a liability in four weeks, and now center Cam Jurgens is in concussion protocol with a transatlantic flight on the calendar. Philadelphia already shuffled its front badly for Sunday's loss to the Rams — the group that walked out was Jordan Mailata, Jurgens, Drew Kendall, Tyler Steen and Markel Bell, a far cry from the training-camp five of Mailata, Landon Dickerson, Jurgens, Steen and Lane Johnson.

That's three starters gone from the original plan. Dickerson has been on IR since after Week 1, Lane Johnson missed Sunday for personal reasons, and Fred Johnson was inactive with an injury. Lose Jurgens too, and the depth chart gets scary fast: Willie Lampkin and Micah Morris are the only active backups in the building.

How Bad Is the Depth

Pretty bad. Jurgens kicked over to left guard to cover Dickerson's spot and, by most accounts, struggled in the new role — enough that head coach Nick Sirianni was asked Monday whether a benching was on the table. Sirianni said publicly he was happy with Jurgens, which is the kind of thing coaches say when they don't have another option.

There's more smoke, too. Kendall briefly disappeared into the medical tent during the Rams game before returning to finish, so he may not be at full strength either. If Jurgens can't travel to London, Philadelphia is patching an offensive line with players who weren't supposed to see the field.

The Fantasy Fallout

This is an offensive-line story, which means the fantasy read runs straight through the skill guys relying on that line. A healthy Eagles front keeps Jalen Hurts clean and the run game humming. A front held together by Lampkin and Morris, in a road environment overseas, raises the odds of pressure, blown blocks and stalled drives.

Actionable take: if you've got a strong QB alternative, this is a week to consider sitting Hurts rather than banking on a shaky line protecting him in London. Monitor Jurgens' protocol status and whether Lane Johnson returns before you lock lineups — the difference between those two playing and not is the difference between a startable Eagles offense and a landmine.
