Nico Collins Sits Again With Hamstring — Texans WR1 in Limbo

Collins missed Week 2 and stayed off the practice field to open the week. His hamstring is the fantasy story that matters most in Houston.

Nico Collins

Hamstring cost him Week 2 and Wednesday — track Thursday/Friday closely.

Key numbers
  • Collins DNP with hamstring, already missed Week 2
  • WR43 overall, WR8 in our rankings
  • 1,117 rec yds, 6 TD in 2025 (15 games)
  • Schultz DNP (rest), TE10 in our rankings
  • Five Texans total missed practice

Houston opened its practice week with five players on the shelf, but only one of them moves the fantasy needle in a serious way: Nico Collins didn't practice, his hamstring still barking after it kept him out of the Week 2 loss to the Bengals. He first tweaked it in practice last week, and Wednesday's absence tells you the recovery isn't done yet.

That's a big deal because Collins is the Texans' clear WR1 and one of our top options at the position. He sits at WR43 overall — WR8 in our rankings — off a 2025 line of 71 catches for 1,117 yards and six touchdowns across 15 games (224 PPR points, an actual result). When your anchor receiver stacks a game miss on top of a Wednesday DNP, you plan for the worst and hope to be pleasantly surprised.

The Rest of the Report

The other four non-participants are mostly noise for fantasy purposes. Trent Brown (knee/wrist), Jadeveon Clowney (knee), Jake Hummel (groin) and Ed Ingram (groin) all sat, while Dalton Schultz got a veteran rest day. Schultz being held for maintenance rather than injury is the kind of Wednesday note that usually clears by game day.

Elsewhere, Will Anderson Jr. (rest), Logan Hall (knee) and M.J. Stewart (knee) were limited, and Reed Blankenship (thumb) and Wade Woodaz (thumb) practiced fully. None of that changes anything on your lineup card.

The Fantasy Fallout

Schultz is fine — a rest DNP for a player who caught 82 balls for 777 yards and three scores in 2025 (178 PPR points, actual) and grades out as our TE10 isn't worth a second thought. Roll him out. If he somehow pops up limited later in the week, revisit, but that's not the expectation right now.

Collins is the one to babysit. Two straight practice reports without work is a real flag, and hamstrings love to linger into a second week. Don't drop him — this is a talent you hold through a soft patch — but line up a contingency plan and watch Thursday and Friday. A limited session by week's end changes the outlook; another DNP and you're pivoting to your bench at receiver.
