Bo Nix

A top-tier defense is winning games; Nix is dragging fantasy lineups down.

Key numbers
  • 28-12 through 40 starts, better than Elway or Manning
  • Just 107 pass yards, 4.0 YPA in OT win over Seattle
  • 74 PPR points in 6 games — our QB22 for 2026
  • Denver ranks 31st in yards/game, last in yards/play
  • Only 6 TD passes this season after 29 as a rookie

Bo Nix is winning football games. He's also sinking fantasy lineups. Those two things can both be true, and right now they are. Denver survived Seattle 17-14 in overtime on Thursday despite managing 168 total yards, averaging 2.9 yards per play, and gaining all of 38 yards after halftime. Nix threw for 107 yards on exactly four yards per attempt.

That improved the Broncos to 4-2 and extended their run of one-score wins to 14 games. Nix sits 28-12 through his first 40 starts — more wins than John Elway or Peyton Manning had at the same point. But in our rankings he's the QB22 with just 74 PPR points across six games this season (2026), and that number tells you everything about why he's unstartable in most formats.

The Numbers Are Trending Down

This isn't a one-week blip. Nix has six touchdown passes and zero interceptions through six 2026 games — the interception number is nice, but six scores in six weeks is barely streamer production. He threw 29 touchdowns as a rookie in 2024. The downfield aggression that showed up in 2025 has evaporated: per TruMedia, his big-time throw rate has been halved and his turnover-worthy play rate has nearly doubled, with EPA per dropback now negative.

There's an injury wrinkle too. Nix had surgery on a fractured right ankle after January's playoff win over Buffalo, and when asked whether it's affecting him after the Week 4 loss to San Francisco, he flatly said no. Sean Payton has since taken play-calling back from Davis Webb, and the offense still put up 224 yards on the Chargers and 168 on Seattle. Denver now ranks 31st in yards per game and dead last in yards per play.

The Draft-Class Gap

The sixth quarterback off the board in 2024 is being lapped by his classmates on our pages. Drake Maye has 103 PPR points in five games (QB7) this season (2026). Caleb Williams sits as our QB5 at #11 overall, with 107 rushing yards and two rushing scores in just two games. Even Jayden Daniels, banged up and our QB35 right now, has out-rushed Nix. The stability of one coach and one system should have helped Nix — instead he's the outlier heading the wrong way.

For fantasy managers, this is straightforward: Nix is a sit until the offense shows a pulse. A quarterback throwing for 107 yards in a win is a quarterback whose team wants to lean on defense and the run, and that caps his ceiling to the floor. Don't chase the record. If you need a streaming QB, Maye or Williams are the far better buys from this class. Bench Nix and wait for a smash matchup — or a sign that the ankle, and the aggression, have truly returned.
