Chiefs Stash Justin Tucker on Practice Squad as Butker's Misses Pile Up
Kansas City has signed the eight-time All-Pro to the practice squad after Harrison Butker missed six kicks through seven weeks, including two in a Week 7 loss.

Six misses and a Hall-of-Fame kicker stashed behind him — too shaky to trust.
- Butker has missed 6 kicks in 2026, including an XP
- Butker is 9-of-10 inside 50 yards this year
- Tucker last played Jan. 19, 2025 for Baltimore
- Tucker owns 89.1% career FG rate, 417 makes (14th)
- Butker is our PK22, 47 PPR pts through 6 games (2026)
The Chiefs just put Harrison Butker on notice. Kansas City is signing former Ravens kicker Justin Tucker to its practice squad, per CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz, a move that lands squarely after Butker has missed six kicks through seven weeks — including a missed extra point and two blown field goals in last week's 20-3 loss to Seattle.
Tucker, 36, hasn't kicked in a regular-season game since Jan. 19, 2025, but the résumé is absurd: eight-time All-Pro, seven-time Pro Bowler, Super Bowl champ, and an 89.1% career field goal rate on 417 makes (14th all-time). The Chiefs reportedly worked out three kickers this week and chose Tucker over former Rams leg Harrison Mevis.
Why Tucker Is Available at All
This isn't a clean reclamation story. The Ravens released Tucker in May 2025 after The Baltimore Banner reported allegations from multiple women of sexually inappropriate conduct at Baltimore-area spas — a number that eventually reached 16 accusers across eight spas. He drew a 10-game suspension under the league's personal conduct policy and went unsigned, despite workouts with the Colts, Saints and Jets. Kansas City signing him anyway tells you how thin their patience with Butker has become.
What's Actually Wrong With Butker
The weird part is Butker hasn't been bad everywhere. He's 9-of-10 from inside 50 this season — the damage is coming from distance, where the Week 7 misses from 58 and 45 yards left points on the field in a game Kansas City badly needed. Andy Reid called Butker one of the most consistent kickers in football and said he's simply off and needs to get it fixed.
For now, Butker keeps the job. He's our PK22 with 47 PPR points through six games in 2026, and his last five outings are running 7.8 fantasy points below his season average — not what you drafted him for. A practice-squad stash doesn't usually grab a roster spot, but an eight-time All-Pro waiting in the wings is a different kind of threat.
Fantasy call: SIT Butker if you have any other viable option this week, and keep a close eye on Kansas City's kicker situation. Streaming-desperate managers shouldn't bother adding Tucker off a practice squad yet, but if Butker shanks another gimme and Tucker gets elevated, this flips fast.
