Chris Olave Cleared for Full Saints Camp After Blood Clot Scare

The health cloud hanging over Chris Olave is officially gone. Saints GM Mickey Loomis confirmed Tuesday that Olave has been cleared to do everything at summer practices, closing the book on the blood clot in his lung that shelved him for Week 18 and forced the team to limit his workload through spring.

That matters a lot for anyone who owned him in 2025, when Olave still turned in 100 catches for 1,163 yards and 9 touchdowns across 16 games — good for 270 PPR points. He sits at WR6 and #27 overall in our rankings, and a full offseason of reps is exactly what you want to see from a receiver whose absence was medical rather than muscular.

There's a second beneficiary here too. First-round rookie Jordyn Tyson, who battled a hamstring injury this offseason, was set to join Olave on the field Wednesday. Getting the top pick full practice time immediately puts him on the fast track to a real role in this offense.

The camp report wasn't clean across the board. Defensive lineman Keeshawn Silver and receiver Mason Tipton opened on the PUP list, while defensive lineman Zxavian Harris and tight end Cody Hardy landed on the non-football injury list. Tipton, our WR144 after 20 PPR points on 11 catches in 2025, was already a deep-league dart throw — the PUP start does him no favors.

The Fantasy Fallout

For Olave, this is a straightforward buy-low window. A blood clot sounds scary, and it should have suppressed his summer draft value — but the clearance is total, and his last-five-game form in 2025 ran +3.9 fantasy points above his season average. That's a receiver trending up, not one you should fade.

Draft Olave as a rock-solid WR2 with WR1 upside if the target share holds. Monitor Tyson's camp rise as a late-round stash with breakout equity. And unless you're in a very deep format, leave Tipton on the wire until he's off PUP and doing something worth rostering.
