Colts Sign Darius Slayton After Giants Eat $9.75M Guarantee

Darius Slayton has agreed to terms with the Colts, per multiple reports, ending a short stint on the open market after the Giants released him earlier this month. Slayton was in year two of a three-year, $36 million deal, and New York still eats $9.75 million fully guaranteed for 2026 — offset by whatever Indianapolis pays him.
The résumé is solid without being flashy. Slayton spent seven seasons in New York and racked up 296 catches for 4,435 yards and 22 touchdowns, including a 37-538-1 line across 14 games last season (2025) that translated to 95 PPR points on our board, good for WR64. That's a rock-steady depth veteran, not a difference-maker.
Where He Fits
The problem for fantasy purposes is the room he's walking into. The Colts already carry Keenan Allen, Josh Downs, Ashton Dulin, Deion Burks, Laquon Treadwell, and Pierce at receiver. Pierce is the one expected to hit injured reserve, which is precisely how Indy clears the roster spot for Slayton in the first place.
Downs is the pecking-order name that matters here. He posted 58 catches for 566 yards and four scores across 16 games last season (2025) — 138 PPR points, WR42 on our rankings — and remains the clear priority target ahead of Slayton. Dulin (20 PPR points, WR146) and Treadwell (WR196) are pure roster fodder, so Slayton slots into a low-leverage support role.
The Fantasy Fallout
For managers, this is a name-recognition move that doesn't move the fantasy needle yet. Slayton has the pedigree to carve out snaps if injuries thin the group further, but there's no path to weekly relevance behind Allen and Downs on day one. Leave him on waivers in all standard formats, keep Downs where he is, and only circle Slayton if a Colts receiver goes down and the target math suddenly opens up.
