Dak Prescott is now the most statistically decorated quarterback in Dallas Cowboys history, full stop. In Sunday's 37-20 win over Washington, Prescott threw for 279 yards and four touchdowns, and his 249th career scoring pass moved him past Tony Romo for the franchise's all-time touchdown lead — a mark he reached in 15 fewer games than Romo needed.
That milestone completes the sweep. Prescott already sat atop the Cowboys leaderboard in completion percentage (67%), passing yards (36,443) and passer rating (98.6). Now the touchdown crown belongs to him too. He did it in the home opener while wearing Roger Staubach's No. 12 on the way in and out of the building.
Prescott didn't crown himself, though. He said Staubach is still the best quarterback in Cowboys history — the standard, the first great one, the guy he's chasing. He framed the record as a beginning rather than a finish line, saying he plans to play a long time and wants to double the number. Classy, and also a hint that the counting stats aren't slowing down.
The Playoff Asterisk
Here's the wrinkle that follows both Dallas passers. Prescott and Romo are the only quarterbacks in NFL history with a .600-plus regular-season winning percentage and zero conference championship starts (minimum 100 starts). Prescott came within a whisker of the 2023 MVP after leading the league in completions (410), touchdown passes (36) and QBR (73.4). The team January results still haven't matched the regular-season dominance.
The Fantasy Fallout
None of the playoff noise dents his fantasy value. Prescott finished 2025 with 4,552 passing yards, 30 touchdowns and — remarkably — zero interceptions across 17 games, adding 177 rushing yards and two scores on the ground for 330 PPR points. That's the profile of a genuine every-week starter, and it lands him at #6 among quarterbacks in our current 2026 rankings, 12th overall.
The one caution: his form dipped late, averaging 4.8 fantasy points below his season mark over his final five games in 2025. Sunday's four-touchdown outburst suggests that's already ancient history. Start Prescott with total confidence, and if a nervous manager in your league is buying into the late-2025 slump, this is your window to trade for him before the market catches up.
