Eagles Stash Rookie TE Eli Stowers on IR — Goedert's Grip Tightens

Stowers won't play until Week 5 at the earliest thanks to hamstring and quad injuries, leaving Dallas Goedert with an even cleaner runway in Philly's tight end room.

Rookie's IR trip locks in Goedert's target share for at least a month.

Key numbers
  • Stowers on IR, can't return before Week 5
  • Hamstring AND quad injuries cited by team
  • Goedert: #7 TE in our ranks after 185 PPR pts in 2025
  • Calcaterra also on IR — TE room is thin
  • Covey elevated, reverts to practice squad post-game

The Eagles placed second-round tight end Eli Stowers on injured reserve Saturday, which means the earliest he can suit up is Week 5. He'd been listed as questionable with a hamstring problem, but Philadelphia revealed a quad injury is also part of the equation — a two-for-one that made stashing him on IR the obvious call.

Stowers isn't the only casualty in the room. Grant Calcaterra is already on IR too, leaving the Eagles with Dallas Goedert, Johnny Mundt, and E.J. Jenkins as their only healthy tight ends for the coming weeks. To patch things up short-term, the team elevated wide receiver Britain Covey from the practice squad; he'll revert back after Sunday's game.

What It Means Behind Goedert

For fantasy purposes, none of the depth names move the needle much on their own. Jenkins carries our #92 positional rank (#447 overall) on the strength of exactly one catch for seven yards and a touchdown across eight games in 2024. Covey is a WR by trade — our #190 at the position, #479 overall — coming off a 2-catch, 20-yard, 4 PPR-point line in six 2025 games. Neither is a stream you're rushing to make.

The real story is what this does for the guy on top. Dallas Goedert enters as our #7 tight end (#77 overall), and he's earned it: 60 catches, 591 yards, and 11 touchdowns for 185 PPR points across 15 games last season (2025, actual). With Stowers and Calcaterra both shelved, there's simply no one behind him to siphon red-zone looks or two-tight-end snaps.

The Fantasy Takeaway

Hold Goedert with confidence and pencil him into your lineup — his floor just got firmer because the competition for targets in Philly's TE room evaporated for at least a month. Stowers becomes a deep-league dynasty watch, nothing more, until he's off IR and actually practicing. Don't spend a bench spot on Jenkins or Covey unless you're desperate for a bye-week body, and even then, look elsewhere first.
