Keenan Allen is entering his 14th NFL season, and for the first time in his career he won't be wearing No. 13. Colts receiver Laquon Treadwell told reporters Wednesday he's holding onto the number, forcing the veteran to switch to No. 10 in Indianapolis. Allen had worn 13 in all 13 of his seasons with the Chargers and Bears — a clean streak now broken by a teammate who caught zero passes in the digit last year.
Treadwell said he respected what Allen accomplished in the number but that he and his family prayed on the decision and ultimately chose to keep it. Allen, per Treadwell, was fine with it. The irony writes itself: Treadwell appeared in 10 games in 2025 wearing No. 13 and finished with no receptions on no targets, while Allen built a resume worth Pro Bowls in the same two digits.
For what it's worth, Treadwell has been a jersey nomad his whole career — he cycled through 11, 80, 82, 18, 17, and 7 from 2016 to 2024 before finally landing on 13 last season. So the attachment is recent. But numbers become identity for a lot of players, and Treadwell clearly isn't in a giving mood.
What It Means for Fantasy
None of this changes a snap count, and that's the honest read. Jersey drama is fun offseason noise, but it tells you nothing about Allen's role in the Colts offense. What matters is whether a 34-year-old slot receiver on a new team can carve out the volume he's used to — and that's the real question, not the number on his back.
Treadwell, meanwhile, remains a name only for the deepest of deep leagues. He is not a fantasy asset; he's a camp body who happens to be sitting on a good jersey number.
