Marcus Mariota didn't make it out of the first quarter. Washington's backup quarterback left during the team's opening offensive possession, ducked into the sideline medical tent, and headed to the locker room shortly after. Reports from the game had him gesturing to his knee, and the injury reportedly stems from a hit he absorbed while delivering a pass one snap before handing off to Kaytron Allen.
That's a meaningful blow to Washington's depth chart on a night when Jayden Daniels was already getting the game off. Mariota posted 126 PPR points across 11 games in the 2025 season (actual), with 1,695 passing yards, 10 touchdowns and seven picks, plus 297 rushing yards and a score. Daniels remains the name that matters here long term. He carried 120 PPR points through seven games in the 2025 season (actual) and ranks #160 overall, #35 at quarterback, though his last five outings came in 1.5 fantasy points below his season average. If Mariota's knee turns into anything, Daniels' workload and health become the whole story for Washington managers.
The move for now is simple: don't touch Mariota until Washington puts out an actual designation. If the news comes back clean, he's back to being a matchup-based streamer in superflex. If it's a multi-week absence, he's droppable in all but the deepest formats — and Hartman isn't a viable pickup unless we hear he's got a real runway.
