Key numbers
  • Graham left on Pittsburgh's first drive, Thursday Oct 1
  • Entered the game with 4.0 sacks in 3 games
  • Week 3 line: 2.0 sacks, 7 tackles, 3 TFL
  • No. 5 overall pick in 2025 NFL Draft
  • Walked off under his own power, questionable to return

Cleveland's best defensive story of the young season hit a speed bump Thursday night. Browns defensive tackle Mason Graham left the game against Pittsburgh in the first quarter with a left knee injury and was ruled questionable to return, exiting during the Steelers' opening drive.

The timing stings. Graham walked in with 4.0 sacks through three games and had logged at least one in every outing, headlined by a monster Week 3 against Carolina where he piled up 2.0 sacks and seven tackles, three of them for loss. That's a top-tier interior pass-rush pace for a 23-year-old in his second year.

On the play in question, Graham got tangled with a Steelers offensive lineman and went to the ground. Cleveland's medical staff attended to him quickly, and he was able to walk off on his own. He stopped at the blue medical tent before heading back to the locker room — not the worst sign, but not a clean bill of health either.

There's a nice subplot here: Graham was the No. 5 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft out of Michigan, where he helped the Wolverines win the 2023 national title. His former college teammate, Steelers receiver Roman Wilson, punctuated Pittsburgh's opening drive with a rushing touchdown — right after Graham left the field.

The Fantasy Fallout

For IDP managers, Graham was becoming a genuine weekly difference-maker given how he's generated pressure and splash plays early this year. A knee that sends a player straight to the locker room always carries risk, and until Cleveland clarifies the severity, you can't plug him in with confidence. Keep an eye on practice reports before your next lineup lock.

As for Wilson, his touchdown is a feel-good moment but doesn't move the needle in redraft leagues — he's our No. 327 overall (No. 118 WR) and posted just 12 catches for 166 yards and two scores across 13 games last season (2025, actual), good for 39 PPR points. He stays a deep-league dart throw at best.

Bottom line: hold Graham if he's on your IDP roster and treat this as a wait-and-see. If the Browns downgrade him or an MRI points to anything structural, pivot fast — but don't drop a player producing at this rate on a single questionable tag.
