Two games into the season, the Pittsburgh Steelers have exactly one offensive touchdown to show for it. That's the headline number after a 20-3 faceplant in Foxborough against Drake Maye and the Patriots — three points that match the fewest Aaron Rodgers has ever put up in a game he started and finished.
The tape backs up the misery. Rodgers went 23-of-39 for 187 yards with an interception and two fumbles, and the Steelers managed just 235 yards of total offense. Their season total sits at 499 yards, the lowest two-game output of Rodgers' entire Hall of Fame career. At 42, he looks the part.
Rodgers Points the Finger — Sort Of
Rodgers didn't openly blast head coach Mike McCarthy, but he didn't exactly cover for him either. He said the best teams are player-led, then added that if there's too much in the game plan, they need to cut it back — his job being to tell McCarthy what's working and what isn't. Asked to grade the play-calling directly, Rodgers said the plays were fine but the execution wasn't there.
McCarthy, to his credit, ate the blame himself, flatly telling reporters he did not do a good job. He echoed Rodgers on trimming the volume, noting an old lesson: when things aren't clean, you cut the game plan down. He praised Rodgers as a quarterback who can handle any volume, but stressed football is a team game — and right now the team isn't executing.

This is a mess for fantasy purposes. DK Metcalf is the bigger casualty — ranked #73 (#25 WR) coming off 187 PPR points last year (2025, actual), he's now stuck with a 44.4% catch rate and no offensive rhythm around him.
Bottom line: don't chase this. Metcalf is a bench body until the volume and targets come back, and Rodgers is a low-end streamer at best against a Cincinnati defense next week. The Bengals bring Joe Burrow (135 PPR points in eight games last season, 2025 actual) to Acrisure, and Pittsburgh will need its best offensive showing yet just to keep pace. Sit both skill pieces and wait for proof of life.
