Saints Fear Ty Chandler Knee Injury Is Serious, Gutting Their RB Room
With Kamara (MCL) and Neal (hamstring) already down, Chandler's knee scare leaves New Orleans dangerously thin behind Etienne. Here's the waiver fallout.

Healthy body in a decimated backfield — cheap upside speculation.
- Chandler hurt knee in Saturday loss to Rams
- Kamara sidelined with sprained MCL
- Neal battling a hamstring injury
- Miller: 193 rush yds, 33 PPR pts in 2025 (7 gm)
- Kamara ranks #45 at RB in our model
The Saints' running back room is falling apart in real time. Ty Chandler went down with a knee injury in Saturday's loss to the Rams, and coach Kellen Moore admitted Monday that Chandler could miss time. According to a report out of New Orleans, the team's concern runs deeper than that — they fear the injury is serious.
This isn't happening in a vacuum. Alvin Kamara is already out with a sprained MCL, and Devin Neal is nursing a hamstring. Kendre Miller only recently returned from an extended absence with a back injury. Suddenly a backfield that had bodies to spare is scraping the bottom of the depth chart.
For context on the pecking order: Kamara logged 471 rush yards, a touchdown and 33 catches for 186 yards across 11 games in 2025, good for 101 PPR points — enough to sit at RB45 (#193 overall) in our rankings. He's the engine of this offense, and his form was already trending down, at -2.9 fantasy points below his season average over his last five games before the MCL.
Who's Left Standing
With Chandler potentially gone for a stretch, Kendre Miller joins Rasheed White and Audric Estime as the healthy options behind Travis Etienne. Miller's 2025 line is thin — 193 rush yards, one touchdown and 33 PPR points across seven games (RB77, #342 overall) — but availability is the whole ballgame right now. Estime chipped in 48 PPR points over seven games and, notably, has trended up at +2.7 fantasy points above his average across his last five.
The wild card here is Neal, who quietly outperformed the room before his hamstring flared up. His 60 PPR points in 10 games (RB61) came with the best recent form of any Saints back — +4.5 fantasy points over his last five. If his hamstring heals faster than Chandler's knee, he could leapfrog everyone into the primary complement role behind Etienne.
The Fantasy Move
Don't overthink this. Etienne is the clear beneficiary and should be locked into your lineup while New Orleans is this banged up. Behind him, Miller is the pure availability play — grab him off waivers as a cheap dart if you're desperate for volume, and keep tabs on Neal's hamstring, because he's the more talented option if healthy. Hold Chandler if you have a stash-worthy IR spot, but don't count on him until we get real clarity on that knee.
