The Seahawks put two young players on injured reserve Tuesday, and the timing tells the whole story: both moves rule the players out for the rest of the regular season. Safety Bud Clark, this year's second-round pick, broke his ankle on Sunday night. Offensive lineman Mason Richman, a 2025 seventh-rounder, went down with an undisclosed lower-body injury.
For Clark, it's a brutal early break — a broken ankle in the season's opening stretch that shelves a defender Seattle spent premium draft capital on. Richman's injury is less specific but just as final for 2026, since the IR designation means neither can suit up again this year.
To backfill the roster, Seattle signed offensive tackle Derrick Graham, safety Tysheem Johnson and running back Justin Jones. Johnson is the direct positional replacement for Clark's spot in the secondary, while Graham gives the line depth in Richman's absence.
The Fantasy Fallout
None of this moves the needle much in standard leagues — Clark is a defensive back, and Richman is an offensive lineman, so neither was a lineup piece for you. But IDP managers who took a flier on Clark's draft pedigree need to react. A rookie safety in a defined role can carry deep-league value; a rookie safety on season-ending IR carries none.
The signings are worth a footnote. Justin Jones is now a body in a Seattle backfield, and any running back added off the street deserves a bookmark in dynasty and deeper formats — not because of what he's done, but because of where opportunity can appear. For now, though, he's a watch-list name, not an add.
Actionable take: if you're in an IDP league and stashed Bud Clark, drop him — there's no return path this season. Richman was never rosterable outside of the deepest offensive-line formats, so no action needed there. Keep Justin Jones on your radar as a Seattle backfield depth piece, but don't burn a roster spot on him until he shows a real path to touches.
