Texans Lose Henry To'oTo'o to IR, Miss Minimum Four Games With Shoulder
To'oTo'o hits injured reserve and can't return before the Week 6 London game vs. Jacksonville — Houston's IR count is now 12 players deep.

The Houston Texans placed starting weakside linebacker Henry To'oTo'o on injured reserve, meaning he'll miss a minimum of four games with a shoulder injury. The earliest he can suit up again is Week 6, when Houston meets the Jaguars in London on October 18. Head coach DeMeco Ryans initially said only that To'oTo'o would be out "some time" before the team made the IR move official later in the day.
This isn't an isolated blow. Houston now has 12 players parked on IR — five on offense (Mertz, Higgins, Dell, Smith, Hagen) and seven on defense — turning what looked like a deep roster into a patchwork job by mid-September. The 2025 season for To'oTo'o was no fluke either: 95 tackles, nine tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks and four pass deflections across 930 snaps, with a 65.1 PFF grade.
Who Fills the Void
The Texans will hand the weakside snaps to a committee of Jake Hansen, Jake Hummel (himself week-to-week with a groin issue), and rookies Wade Woodaz and Aiden Fisher. That's a lot of unproven bodies next to Azeez Al-Shaair — Hansen is the only healthy linebacker besides Al-Shaair with more than 200 career regular-season snaps. Expect growing pains, even if the raw talent is there.
To'oTo'o, 25, was a fifth-round steal from Houston's celebrated 2023 draft class. He recently signed a two-year, $16 million extension that keeps him in Houston through 2028, and he'd developed into a genuine sideline-to-sideline coverage linebacker — his divisional-round game against the Patriots last postseason was the highlight reel.
The Fantasy Fallout
For IDP managers, this one hurts if you were leaning on To'oTo'o's tackle volume. He's a clear sit and a roster clog until at least Week 6 — stash him if you have the IR slot, otherwise cut bait. The more interesting play is Al-Shaair, whose tackle share should climb with a green backfield of linebackers around him; treat him as a modest buy in tackle-heavy leagues.
Wade Woodaz is the speculative dart here after flashing in the preseason, but don't rush to add a rookie into a rotating role — WATCH him first. And with Jayden Higgins (our #140 overall, #46 at WR after 41-525-6 for 130 PPR points last season in 2025) also lost for the year, this Texans roster is thinning out on both sides. Adjust your expectations for the whole unit, not just one name.
