49ers Lose Mike Evans, Deebo Samuel for Week 7 — Kirk Steps In
San Francisco ruled out Evans (Achilles), Samuel (hamstring) and Bosa (knee/calf), gutting a passing game that leaned on Evans' 420 yards.

Shanahan plans to activate him into a WR room stripped of its top two.
- Evans leads 49ers with 420 rec yds, 27 catches (2026)
- Deebo out with hamstring: 60 PPR pts over 5 games
- Bosa shelved (knee/calf); Week 8 bye gives rest
- Kirk planned to activate off calf injury
- Evans our WR18, #59 overall entering Week 7
San Francisco's injury report just blew a hole in its receiver room. The 49ers ruled out Mike Evans (Achilles) and Deebo Samuel (hamstring) for Week 7, along with defensive lineman Nick Bosa (knee/calf) and a trio of defenders. Evans is the headliner on the fantasy side — he leads the team with 420 receiving yards and sits second with 27 catches through six games in 2026, good for 87 PPR points.
Samuel's absence stings too. He'd posted 60 PPR points across five games this season (206 receiving yards, three scores, plus 78 on the ground), and losing both him and Evans leaves San Francisco scrambling for targets against this opponent.
The Bosa Situation
Shanahan admitted Bosa was probably a touch optimistic when he floated a return a couple of weeks back. The silver lining: the 49ers have a Week 8 bye, so there's no rush. More rest now, less risk later. For IDP managers, that's a two-week hole to plan around.
Who Actually Plays
Christian Kirk is the name to circle. He's technically listed as questionable with a calf issue, but Shanahan told reporters the team plans to activate him for the game. With Evans and Samuel both sidelined, Kirk inherits a massive target bump by default. He's our WR44 and #115 overall, and his last five games ran 2.2 fantasy points below his season average — but opportunity trumps form here.
Defensive back Upton Stout (shoulder) and safety Siran Neal (knee) round out the questionable list, while linebackers Garret Wallow (hamstring) and Luke Gifford (groin) plus safety Marques Sigle (ankle) are out alongside the bigger names.
The fantasy move: start Kirk with confidence this week — a thin 49ers receiver room plus a confirmed activation is exactly the volume spike you chase on waivers. Evans (our WR18, #59 overall) is a straight bench stash given the Achilles tag, and Samuel owners should pivot to the bye week ahead. If Kirk's available in your league, he's the add of the week in San Francisco.
