Bryce Young's Year-Four Leap Is Real — And Fantasy-Relevant Again
Young leads the NFL with 1,268 passing yards through four games (317/game) after barely cracking 3,000 all of last year. Time to pay attention.

League-leading yardage and a transformed offense make him a streamer worth grabbing.
- Young leads NFL with 1,268 pass yds, 317/game
- Jumped from 27th to 9th in EPA/dropback
- 91 PPR pts in 2026, our QB20 (4 games)
- Panthers hit 32+ pts in 3 of 4 games
- Shough leads NFL at 53 dropbacks per game
A year ago, Bryce Young ranked 27th among starters in EPA/dropback and barely scraped past 3,000 passing yards for the entire season. Four weeks into 2026, nobody in the NFL has more passing yards than his 1,268 — that's 317 per game — and he's climbed all the way to ninth in EPA/dropback. For fantasy purposes, he's already banked 91 PPR points this season, good for QB20 in our rankings. The leap is loud.
The Panthers have scored 32-plus points in three of their four games. They did that exactly zero times all of last season. This isn't a hot streak papering over a bad quarterback — it's a different player, and the tape backs it up.
What Actually Changed
Young's calling card out of Alabama was improvising outside of structure, and that never left — he's beaten his per-attempt average on longer dropbacks in every year of his career. The problem was in-rhythm throws. Over his first three seasons he managed just 5.5 yards per attempt on throws under 2.6 seconds. This year that number is 7.8, with his completion rate up seven points over his previous career high on those quick throws.
The difference comes down to two things: sharper presnap diagnosis and cleaner postsnap footwork. Young now identifies blitzes, adjusts protection, and sets a consistent base instead of relying purely on arm talent. Analysts aren't betting on him leading the league in yards all year, but the floor underneath him has clearly risen.
The Rest of the Rookie-Deal Class
Tyler Shough is the other breakout. He's dragged New Orleans into a top-10 scoring offense while handling a league-high 53 dropbacks per game — despite missing a top-10 pick receiver and losing his left tackle for two games. His four interceptions are messier on paper than in reality, with one miscommunication, one tipped ball, and one thrown while getting hit. C.J. Stroud's story is bleaker: he's averaging 7.6 yards per attempt with zero interceptions and 72 PPR points (our QB21), yet the Texans are 0-4 behind a shaky line and a depleted receiver room.
Fantasy bottom line: Young is a BUY LOW. He's leading the league in yardage with a genuinely improved process and an offense that keeps hitting 30-plus, yet he's still sitting at QB20 in our ranks — meaning he's probably available in your league. Grab him as a streamer with real weekly upside. Shough is a sneaky deeper-league add given the absurd volume, while Stroud stays a frustrating HOLD until Houston's supporting cast gets healthy.
