Caleb Williams Out for Weeks: What Case Keenum Means for Bears Fantasy
Williams' hamstring injury hands the QB job to a run-first game plan built around D'Andre Swift and Kyle Monangai against Philly's leaky front.

A Keenum-led offense funnels volume to the run game.
- Williams (hamstring) out, Keenum starts Monday vs Eagles
- Keenum: 291 yds, 1 TD, 3 INT in 2 games (2023)
- Bears ran for 291 yds, 6 TD in Week 1 vs Carolina
- Swift + Monangai: 316 yds on 54 carries in 2 weeks
- Eagles allow 3.26 yds after contact per rush, 26th
The Caleb Williams breakout everyone was chasing after Week 1 is on ice. Chicago's QB1 — our #11 overall and #5 at the position — went down with a hamstring injury in last week's rainy, three-point loss to Minnesota, and he's expected to miss several weeks. Williams put up 333 PPR points across 17 games last season (2025), including a stunning 27-to-0 TD-to-INT ratio, so this is a real hole in fantasy lineups.
Here's the twist: backup Tyson Bagent cleared concussion protocol but reports have him behind third-stringer Case Keenum for Monday night against the 2-0 Eagles. Keenum hasn't taken a meaningful snap since 2023, when he went 1-1 for Houston and completed 34 of 53 passes for 291 yards, one touchdown and three picks. He's a career game-manager, and his arrival tells you everything about how the Bears plan to move the ball.
Chicago Goes Ground-and-Pound
With Keenum under center, expect Chicago to lean hard on the run — which is actually good news for one specific player. D'Andre Swift (our RB15, #41 overall) and Kyle Monangai have already combined for 316 yards on 54 carries through two weeks, though most of that came when the Bears dropped 59 on Carolina in Week 1 behind 291 rushing yards and six scores. Swift logged 229 PPR points in 2025 across 16 games, and a run-centric script only tightens his grip on volume.
The matchup cooperates, too. Philadelphia has surrendered 4.2 yards per carry, letting both Washington and Tennessee top 120 on the ground. Their run defense holds up before contact — 0.90 yards before contact ranks 11th — but collapses after, with 3.26 yards after contact checking in 26th. If the Bears can win the collision point, Swift has room to run.
The Eagles Side of the Ledger
Philly is 2-0 and ugly about it, averaging 5.3 yards per play but scoring exactly 24 in each game. Saquon Barkley is off the injury report despite a Week 2 stinger, though his 4.8 yards per carry is inflated by a single 42-yard burst. On the passing side, DeVonta Smith broke out for 10-117-1 last week and Dontayvion Wicks has been explosive both games. Tight end Dallas Goedert (our TE7) is out for at least a few weeks, opening looks for Makai Lemon.
For fantasy managers: Williams stashers need to grab a streamer now, because Keenum won't sniff QB1 value — he's unranked for a reason. The real move is buying D'Andre Swift if a nervous manager is spooked by the QB change. A game plan built to hide Keenum runs straight through the backfield, and this Eagles front gives up yards after contact. Swift is a confident RB2 start on Monday.
