CeeDee Lamb's 17-catch homecoming buries Texans in Cowboys' 34-30 win
Lamb torched Houston for a career-high 17 grabs and 189 yards, capped by the 12-yard winner with 40 seconds left. Here's what it means for your lineup.

Defenses are leaving him singled up — fire him in every format.
- Career-high 17 catches, 189 yards vs Texans
- 12-yard TD winner with 0:40 left
- WR19 in our ranks; 69 PPR pts in 3 games (2026)
- Pickens: just 2 catches, 3 targets on the day
- Cowboys rallied from two double-digit holes
CeeDee Lamb went home to the Houston area and left no doubt. In a 34-30 shootout, Lamb caught a career-high 17 passes for 189 yards and the game-winning 12-yard touchdown with 40 seconds left, dragging the Cowboys (2-2) back from two separate double-digit deficits. He already owns 20 catches, 309 yards and three scores through three games this year — good for 69 PPR points and a WR19 slot in our 2026 rankings.
The box score tells the strategy story. Houston (0-4) rolled coverage toward George Pickens all afternoon, holding him to just two receptions on three targets, which left Lamb in single coverage for most of the night. Dak Prescott, who threw for 335 yards, said the plan was simple: if the defense doubles Pickens and leaves Lamb one-on-one, the ball goes to the open man. It went to Lamb. A lot.
The Pick-Your-Poison Problem
Texans coach DeMeco Ryans admitted the first-half plan actually worked — Houston held Lamb to six catches for 49 yards at the break by playing their coverages correctly. The second half fell apart, by Ryans' own description, and Lamb feasted. On two fourth-quarter scoring drives alone he reeled in seven passes, including gains of 21, 17 and 15 before the winner.
Lamb, for his part, downplayed the favorable looks, saying Houston gave him nothing he wasn't already used to. He described it like a boxing match — a feel-out round, then patience, then capitalizing when the opening showed. He also bought 18 tickets for family, including his grandmother, a personal record that matched the one he set on the field.
The Fantasy Fallout
Pickens is the trickier read. He finished with 2 catches for 55 yards, but one of those was a 53-yard contested bomb on a rare single-high look — proof that his ceiling is intact even when he's the decoy. He's still our WR5 on the season (31 PPR points over three games, 2026), but his floor swings wildly based on how defenses choose to scheme. Prescott's 335-yard day and Javonte Williams' three short rushing scores keep this offense firing on every cylinder.
Bottom line: start Lamb everywhere and never think twice — defenses are literally choosing to leave him singled up, and he's punishing them. Hold Pickens with tempered expectations; the target share is volatile, but the big-play upside and WR5 ranking make him a weekly WR2 you ride out. Prescott stays a comfortable top-six QB play.
