Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb Are Elite. The Cowboys Are Still 1-2
Prescott and Lamb own a near-perfect 157.8 passer rating together, yet Dallas sits 1-2 because the defense is historically bad. The fantasy fallout is loud.

Healthy, hot, and playing in a weekly shootout — he's a locked top-10 WR.
- Lamb: 20 rec, 309 yds, 3 TD through 3 games (2026)
- Prescott: 730 pass yds, 7 TD, 1 INT in 3 games (2026)
- Duo's 157.8 passer rating — perfect is 158.3
- Dallas defense allows 27.3 PPG (No. 25 in NFL)
- Cowboys are 1-2 despite No. 7 scoring offense
The Dallas Cowboys are 1-2, and it has nothing to do with Dak Prescott or CeeDee Lamb. Through three games the duo has connected on 20 of 25 targets for 309 yards, three touchdowns and zero picks — good for a 157.8 passer rating when they team up, a hair under the perfect 158.3. Prescott ranks sixth among QBs in our model this season; Lamb is our WR19 despite missing nothing to injury, a number that's climbing fast.
So why the losing record? The defense. Dallas owns the No. 7 scoring offense at 29.3 points per game and the No. 25 scoring defense at 27.3. Worse, the Cowboys became just the third team since 1963 to allow 375-plus yards per game, log two or fewer sacks and zero interceptions through three weeks. The other two — the 1976 Jets and 2022 Cardinals — never sniffed a winning season. That's the shootout environment fantasy managers are staring at.
Lamb Is Fully Back
Remember last year? Lamb managed just three receiving touchdowns all of 2025 after a Week 3 high ankle sprain against Chicago kneecapped his season. He already has three scores in three games this year. Offensive coordinator Klayton Adams said Lamb is playing lights-out and with real confidence, and the production backs it up — he's fourth in the NFL in receiving yards (309) and tied for fourth in receiving touchdowns.
The new wrinkle is where he's working. Adams noted that defenses keep blitzing from the second level while sitting in soft zone behind it, which has turned the middle of the field into Lamb's personal buffet. Blitz or not, the connection holds: 13 of his targets have come against no blitz, 12 against pressure. Prescott credited their communication — seven years of chemistry showing up in head leans and nonverbal cues.
The Fantasy Angle
This is the dream setup for pass-catchers and the quarterback alike. A defense this leaky means Dallas is going to be throwing in the second half every week, and Prescott's 730 yards and 7 TDs through three games are a sixth-ranked QB floor with league-winning ceiling. He's a confident weekly QB1 and a buy-low target if a manager soured on the 1-2 record.
For Lamb, there is no decision here: start him everywhere, every week. His 69 PPR points in three games undersell the volume and target quality he's seeing over the middle. If anyone in your league is panicking about the Cowboys' standing and shopping him, that's a buy window — the environment only helps his numbers the rest of the way.
