Deebo Samuel Out With Hamstring as 49ers WR Room Gets Thin Fast
Samuel exited after an awkward fall and a lost fumble, leaving San Francisco down to three healthy receivers mid-game.

Hamstring needs a severity update before any lineup call.
- Samuel: 2 catches, 21 yds, 4 rush yds, lost fumble
- WR #24, 58 PPR pts over 4 games (2026)
- Cowing questionable with ankle injury
- SF down to 3 healthy WRs: Evans, Cooks, Watkins
- Samuel fumble set up Myers FG, Seahawks lead 26-21
Deebo Samuel is done for the day. The 49ers receiver was ruled out with a hamstring injury after stepping awkwardly around the corner, falling, and dropping the ball on the way down — a fumble Seattle's Josh Jobe recovered at the San Francisco 36. That turnover turned straight into a Jason Myers field goal, and the Seahawks took a 26-21 lead off the back of it.
Samuel finishes the afternoon with just two catches for 21 yards and two carries for four, plus the lost fumble. On the season he'd been a steady WR2, sitting as our #24 receiver with 58 PPR points across four games (2026), including three touchdowns. Losing him mid-game is a gut punch for any manager who slotted him in today.
A Room Running On Fumes
He isn't the only one hurting. Jacob Cowing is questionable with an ankle issue after logging just one catch for nine yards and his own lost fumble on a punt return. With both banged up, the 49ers are suddenly down to three healthy wideouts: Mike Evans, Brandin Cooks and Jordan Watkins.
That shrinkage matters for the players still standing. Cooks — our #13 wide receiver and WR31 overall — is the obvious name to watch, though he's logged just one game and 0 PPR points in the 2026 sample so far. A thinned-out depth chart is exactly the kind of context that can inflate a veteran's target share in a hurry.
The Fantasy Fallout
For Samuel managers, this is a wait-and-see situation until the severity of the hamstring lands. Soft-tissue injuries are notoriously unpredictable — a mild strain is a one-week nuisance, a bad one torpedoes a month. Don't drop a WR2 off one awkward step, but don't pencil him into next week's lineup either.
If you need a Hail Mary this week, Cooks and Watkins are the pivot points given the depleted room, with Cooks the safer bet on volume. Hold Samuel, monitor the Monday report, and keep your pickup list open in case the 49ers' receiver situation gets worse before it gets better.
