Key numbers
  • Smith DNP Thursday with hamstring injury
  • Barkley (stinger) limited, expects to play Monday
  • Goedert out multiple weeks, avoiding IR
  • Goedert had 60 rec, 591 yds, 11 TD in 2025
  • Bigsby & Shipley both DNP — RB depth thin

The Eagles' Thursday injury report ahead of Monday night's game against the Bears is a landmine field for fantasy managers. DeVonta Smith was a full DID NOT PARTICIPATE with a hamstring injury, and Saquon Barkley — dealing with a stinger — was limited. That's Philadelphia's WR2 and its bell-cow back both showing up flagged three days out.

Smith was spotted warming up early but never actually joined the session, and there's been no reporting yet on how serious the hamstring is. It could be pure Monday-game management. It could be something more. Until we get a Friday or Saturday update, he's a hold-your-breath situation rather than a fade.

Barkley And The Backfield

Barkley reportedly expects to suit up Monday, but limited work tells you he's not at 100%. The bigger concern is what's behind him: both Tank Bigsby (abdomen) and Will Shipley (foot) were DNPs, and those are the only other backs on the active roster. If Barkley can't finish the game, Philly may need to elevate practice-squad options — Dameon Pierce is the likeliest call-up, with Carson Steele (24 PPR points across 2024) and Jaydon Blue also stashed there.

Goedert Out, Ertz In

Dallas Goedert is set to miss multiple games with a knee injury, though the Eagles are reportedly hoping to dodge IR and get him back for Week 6 against Carolina. That's a real fantasy blow — Goedert posted 60 catches, 591 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2025 (185 PPR points, our TE7). In his absence, the recently re-signed Zach Ertz becomes Philadelphia's clear top tight end, with Johnny Mundt and E.J. Jenkins behind him.

On the other side, the Bears' situation is arguably worse: Caleb Williams (hamstring) has been ruled out of practice all week and was described as week-to-week, and backup Tyson Bagent landed in the concussion protocol as a DNP. Williams was our QB5 heading in after a 27-TD, zero-INT 2025 (333 PPR points), so his absence reshapes the whole game script. Case Keenum, unranked, could be the man under center.

The move here: don't overreact to Smith's DNP yet, but line up a plan. If the hamstring lingers into the weekend, pivot to a healthier flex. Barkley managers should have Pierce on their radar as a break-glass handcuff and treat Saquon as a play-through-it start with a slightly lowered ceiling. Ertz is a streaming-tier TE add while Goedert heals — grab him if you're desperate at the position.
