DK Metcalf Flops in Steelers' Ugly 20-13 Win: Time to Panic?

The Steelers won 20-13 in Mike McCarthy's head-coaching debut, but nobody in Pittsburgh is celebrating the offense. The unit gained just 264 yards, converted 3 of 13 third downs, went 0-for-2 on fourth, and got inside Atlanta's 20 only twice. T.J. For fantasy managers, the loudest alarm is DK Metcalf. Don't Bail on the Volume

That's a genuine WR1 workload, and some of the misfires were on Aaron Rodgers, who wasn't sharp (24 of 40, 221 yards, one TD) and left Metcalf hanging on a couple of throws — plus there was a missed pass-interference flag on a deep sideline shot. When a receiver commands double-digit looks in a game his offense gained 264 yards total, the target share is real. The efficiency will follow.

Rodgers himself, our QB19, threw for 3,322 yards and 24 TDs across 16 games in 2025 and has actually trended up recently, averaging +1.6 fantasy points over his last five compared to his season mark. He'll clean this up as the new pieces gel. The bigger structural worry is a rebuilt offensive line that couldn't open holes and briefly had rookie Max Iheanachor protecting Rodgers' blind side after a Troy Fautanu injury scare.

The backfield was quiet — Jaylen Warren and Rico Dowdle combined for just 61 yards on 18 carries — but Warren still salvaged 73 total yards on 15 touches at 4.6 per rush after an early fumble. As our RB17 who posted 217 PPR points in 2025, Warren remains a steady RB2. Meanwhile Pat Freiermuth (five catches, five targets, 46 yards, the lone offensive TD) and offseason add Michael Pittman (three-for-three, 58 yards) quietly looked like the most reliable hands on the field.

The move: hold Metcalf everywhere and start him next week without flinching — the 10-target floor is exactly what you drafted him for. Warren stays in your RB2 slot. And if you're streaming, Freiermuth's usage under McCarthy is worth a real look after Arthur Smith buried him in 2025. Keep an eye on rookie Germie Bernard, too; a zero-target debut behind an unspectacular Roman Wilson could flip fast.
