Eagles Stash Ex-Cowboy Jaydon Blue on Practice Squad After Dallas Cut

The Eagles are adding running back Jaydon Blue to their practice squad after the Cowboys, who drafted him in the fifth round in 2025, moved on. Blue's rookie year was mostly a spectator sport — he was a healthy scratch for 12 games and finished with just 38 carries for 129 yards and a touchdown. That works out to 20 PPR points across five appearances in the 2025 season (actual), which explains why our model has him buried at #385 overall and #86 at the position.
Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer pointed to Blue growing up a bit in 2026, but that maturity apparently wasn't enough to save his roster spot. Now he lands in Philadelphia — not on the 53, but on the practice squad, which tells you everything about where he sits in the pecking order.
The Depth Chart Problem
The Eagles already carry Saquon Barkley, Tank Bigsby and Will Shipley at running back on their active roster. Barkley is the workhorse and a locked-in RB1, sitting at #40 overall and RB14 in our rankings after a monster 2025 season (actual): 1,140 rushing yards, seven scores and 37 catches for 273 more, good for 230 PPR points. Nobody is prying carries loose from him.
Behind Barkley, Bigsby is the handcuff worth owning — he posted 54 PPR points in 2025 (actual) and, more encouragingly, has trended up by 3.9 fantasy points over his last five games versus his season average. Shipley, meanwhile, mirrors Blue almost exactly: 20 PPR points in 2025 (actual) and a #392 overall rank. Blue is essentially competing for scraps behind three guys who already have jobs.
For fantasy purposes, Blue is a name to log and forget for now. Practice-squad running backs behind an elite lead back and a productive handcuff don't move the needle in redraft, and there's no immediate path to touches. If you play deep dynasty, he's a cheap dart throw — young legs in a good offense can eventually matter if injuries strike. Everyone else: keep your attention on Bigsby as the Barkley insurance and let Blue develop out of sight.
