Josh Allen vs. the Rams Blitz: Why Extra Rushers Are a Trap
Allen posts a 108.87 passer rating when blitzed and has 121 PPR points through four games. LA's aggressive new front may be playing right into his hands Monday night.

QB2 overall who thrives vs. the blitz LA has leaned on lately.
- Allen: 108.87 passer rating when blitzed in 2026
- 71.4% completion vs. blitz, 64.3% without it
- QB6 overall, QB2 at position in our rankings
- 121 PPR points through 4 games (2026 actual)
- 7 rush TDs already on 118 rush yards this season
The Rams have figured out that turning up the heat works. They smothered Jalen Hurts and the Eagles, and they nearly held the Broncos and Bo Nix scoreless until the dying minutes of Week 3. With Myles Garrett and Aaron Donald out, LA leaned into blitz pressure — and a revamped secondary made it pay off. That aggression is exactly why their Week 5 Monday night date with Josh Allen could blow up in their faces.
The numbers are stark. When Allen isn't blitzed in 2026, he's completed 64.3% of his passes (54/84) for 722 yards, five TDs and three picks — a pedestrian 96.43 passer rating that ranks 18th leaguewide. Send extra rushers at him, though, and he jumps to 71.4% completions (25/35), 317 yards, a TD, zero interceptions and a 108.87 rating. His passer-rating rank leaps from 18th to seventh against the blitz.
That's why most defenses sit back. Allen sees a blitz on fewer than 30% of his dropbacks — bottom-third territory — because coordinators know what happens when they get greedy. He'll beat you with his legs. He'll fit throws into windows other quarterbacks can't see. The Rams' recent success came from pressure, but Monday is the game where patience may serve them better.
The One Crack in the Armor
Here's the counterpoint Rams fans are clinging to: Allen puts the ball in danger at the sixth-highest rate of any quarterback this season. The interceptions haven't come yet — he's got a clean zero picks on the year — but the ingredients for a takeaway are there. If LA can resist the urge to blitz and simply stay disciplined in coverage, Allen's aggression could eventually gift them a game-swinging turnover. The trick is not forcing it.
The Fantasy Fallout
None of this should move Allen from your lineup — he's our QB2 overall and the QB6 in our full rankings, and he's banked 121 PPR points through four games this season (2026), fueled by seven rushing touchdowns. His form chart shows last five games running 1.8 fantasy points below his own absurd season average, which tells you how high the bar is, not that he's slipping.
Start Allen with total confidence Monday night. A defense that's been winning by blitzing is about to face the one quarterback who feasts on it, and the rushing floor alone keeps his ceiling enormous. If anything, this is a buy-low window on anyone who panicked over that tiny form dip — don't be the manager who overthinks a top-two quarterback in a get-right spot.
