A game-time call in warmups ended with Nabers on the field — and a pregame tackle from John Harbaugh got him there. Here's the fantasy read.

Malik Nabers

Clean 6/9 line in return; volume points to WR1 upside once fully ramped.

Key numbers
  • 6 catches on 9 targets, 69 yards in Week 1
  • First game since October 2025 (ACL, meniscus)
  • Giants beat Cowboys 28-20 in NFC East opener
  • Status was a true game-time decision in warmups
  • Nabers: 57 PPR pts in 4 games in 2025

Malik Nabers is back. The Giants receiver, roughly 11 months removed from a torn ACL and meniscus, made a true game-time decision in pregame warmups and suited up against the Cowboys in Week 1 — then went out and caught six of nine targets for 69 yards in a 28-20 New York win. It was his first game since October 2025.

The line won't win you a fantasy week on its own, but that was never the point. Nabers played four games in 2025 before the injury and posted 18 catches for 271 yards and 2 TDs — 57 PPR points, a pace that screamed WR1 before the knee ended it. Week 1 was about proving the wheel holds up, and it did.

The bigger obstacle, by Nabers' own account, was mental. He said the return was a solo battle he had to fight for himself, to the point that he didn't invite his family to the game — he didn't want to feel like he'd let them down if he couldn't go. Anyone who's rehabbed a serious injury knows the fear of reinjury is half the fight.

The Harbaugh Method

First-year Giants coach John Harbaugh took an, uh, hands-on approach. Per QB Jaxson Dart, Harbaugh and the staff sensed Nabers needed to feel contact before he'd trust the knee — so right before the walkthrough, the head coach tackled his star receiver himself. Nabers popped up, and Harbaugh's message was essentially: see, you're fine. The Giants opened the game with a nine-yard completion to Nabers, and the nerves were gone.

Around him, the ball spread out. Tight end Isaiah Likely led the team and scored twice — notable, since Likely enters 2026 as our TE42 (#268 overall) after a modest 62 PPR points in 2025. Dart, our QB16 (#36 overall) off a 242-PPR-point 2025 that leaned heavily on his legs, ran the offense cleanly enough to beat a division rival.

The Fantasy Fallout

Buy low on Nabers while you still can. He's currently unranked in our system given the injury uncertainty, but a 9-target debut in his first game back tells you the target share is intact — and that's the number that matters most for a receiver of his ceiling. Managers who fell out of love during the rehab should be knocking on his manager's door now, before a 100-yard game resets the price. Start him with confidence as a WR2 this week and let the volume climb from there.
