Officials missed the penalty in real time, and the disciplinary paperwork is the closest thing to a mea culpa you'll get.
Smith wasn't the only one who got the bill. Baltimore edge rusher Trey Hendrickson drew the biggest hit — $17,911 — for putting his full body weight on Shough before the two-minute warning, a foul that was flagged live and helped push New Orleans to the doorstep of the end zone. Saints receiver Chris Olave chipped in an $11,941 fine of his own for taunting Ravens corner Marlon Humphrey, a penalty officials caught during the game.
So three fines, one wild finish, and a rare public acknowledgment that the crew missed one. For fantasy managers, the wallets matter less than what all this contact tells you about how these two are being used.
What It Means for Shough
Shough keeps ending up in the middle of these physical sequences because he's running the ball, and that's the whole fantasy case. That's a nice trend line — but it's still only enough to land him at QB25 in our 2025 rankings.
Olave is the more interesting name here. He finished 2025 with 100 catches, 1,163 yards and nine touchdowns for 270 PPR points, good for WR6 at the position and No. 27 overall in our rankings. His last five games came in 3.9 fantasy points above his season average, so the taunting flag is just noise around a receiver who's playing his best ball.
Bottom line: Olave is a locked-in every-week WR1 — the fine changes nothing. Shough is a different animal. His rushing floor gives him streaming appeal, but the QB25 tag means you hold him as a bye-week fill-in rather than a set-and-forget starter. Don't chase the highlight-reel sneak into your weekly lineup unless the matchup screams for it.
