The Rams lost the NFC Championship Game 31-27 to Seattle, watched their division rival win Super Bowl LX, and decided the answer was to build a team the salary-cap era hasn't really seen. Once 2025 MVP Matthew Stafford confirmed he'd return for an 18th season, Los Angeles handed him a one-year, $55 million extension through 2027 — worth up to $60 million with incentives — and started stacking talent everywhere else.
The headline move was landing reigning Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett from Cleveland for a 2027 first, a 2028 second, a 2029 third and Jared Verse. Then they upgraded the secondary with a Trent McDuffie trade (four years, $124 million) and a Jaylen Watson signing (three years, $51 million). Aaron Donald even unretired because of it. The result: Vegas installed L.A. as 5-to-1 favorites to win Super Bowl LXI, well ahead of Buffalo at 10-to-1.
Why This Matters for Fantasy
Cap-wise, this roster is gloriously top-heavy. Stafford's $48.27 million cap number is the biggest in the league in 2026, edging even Justin Herbert's $46.35 million. That kind of investment means the Rams aren't tanking anything — they're built to score, and to play meaningful snaps deep into January. For fantasy managers, a contending offense with an aging franchise QB throwing to win is exactly the environment you want your skill guys in.
Davante Adams is the biggest beneficiary. He posted 60 catches, 789 yards and 14 touchdowns for 223 PPR points across 14 games in 2025, and he carries the third-highest wide receiver cap hit ($28 million) into 2026. Our model ranks him WR9 (#44 overall). A defense this stacked should hand Stafford more short fields and red-zone looks, and Adams is the guy who cashes those in.
The backfield stays valuable too. Kyren Williams signed a three-year, $33 million extension and racked up 263 PPR points over a full 17-game slate in 2025 (1,252 rushing yards, 10 rushing TDs, plus 281 receiving yards and three scores). He sits at RB9 (#29 overall) in our rankings, and a run-heavy game script for a front-running team only helps his floor.
The wild card is tight end Colby Parkinson, who quietly went for 43-408-8 and 130 PPR points across 15 games in 2025 and is trending up — his last five games came in +5.7 fantasy points above his season average. He's our TE17 (#139 overall), a matchup streamer rather than a set-and-forget.
Bottom line: buy low on Adams if a nervous manager is scared off by his age or target competition — this offense is engineered to score, and he's the priority target. Williams is a comfortable weekly RB2 start, and Parkinson is worth a bench stash in TE-premium and deeper leagues while his form ticks upward.
