Tennessee locked up its offensive line cornerstone Friday, handing left guard Peter Skoronski a four-year, $100 million extension with $88 million guaranteed, per NFL Network. At $25 million per year, the 25-year-old becomes the highest-paid guard in football, edging past the previous benchmark of $24 million set by Dallas' Tyler Smith and matched by Atlanta's Matthew Bergeron.
The move isn't a reach. The 2023 No. 11 overall pick out of Northwestern played every offensive snap last season, allowing just two sacks and 23 pressures — both career lows by Pro Football Focus' count. Tennessee had already picked up his fifth-year option this offseason before deciding to make him a Titan for the long haul.
GM Mike Borgonzi framed Skoronski as a franchise cornerstone, praising the work ethic behind the talent. Skoronski, for his part, said he's grateful for the faith the organization has shown and ready to get back to work — the kind of quote you'd expect from a guy who hasn't missed a start in two years.
Why This Matters for Your Roster
This is a protection story, and protection stories move fantasy needles quietly. Skoronski helped pave the way for Tony Pollard's 1,000-yard season in 2025, when Pollard piled up 1,082 rush yards, five scores and 33 catches for 186 PPR points across 17 games. That put him at RB23 and our overall #76 — and his form was heating up, averaging 4.6 fantasy points above his season baseline over the final five games.
The bigger beneficiary might be Cam Ward. The second-year quarterback threw for 3,169 yards with 15 touchdowns and seven picks last season (2025), adding 159 rushing yards and two scores for 201 PPR points — good for QB22 and #64 overall. His last five games ran 2.7 fantasy points above his average, and a stabilized, expensive interior line is exactly the environment a young passer needs to keep that trend going.
The verdict: nobody's drafting Skoronski in fantasy, but this locks in the ecosystem around two Titans worth targeting. Ward is a sneaky buy-low as a late-round QB with rushing upside and an improving line; Pollard is a fine RB2/flex given his 2025 workload and closing kick. Neither needs to be reached for, but this extension makes both a touch safer than the ADP suggests.
