Bo Nix Gets the Training Wheels Off as Broncos Load Up for 2026

The Broncos come into 2026 as live AFC West contenders — futures markets peg them at a 33% shot to take the division — and the reason isn't just that defense. Denver's offense, mocked as vanilla under Sean Payton, is getting a full menu makeover. OC Davis Webb takes over play-calling with a mandate to add tempo and deeper shots, and Bo Nix now has a legitimate No. 1 target after the arrival of Jaylen Waddle.
That matters because Nix posted one of the lowest completed-air-yards marks among starters in 2025. He still finished with 3,931 passing yards, 25 touchdowns and 11 picks (299 PPR points last season, per our 2025 data), leaning heavily on volume and his legs for 356 rushing yards and five scores. The projection for 2026 sits around 3,700 passing yards — but that's before you factor in a scheme actually designed to push the ball down the field.
What Waddle Really Adds
Waddle isn't the flashiest fantasy name anymore — he's our WR22 (overall #67) after 64 catches for 910 yards and six touchdowns in 16 games last season (194 PPR points), and his last five games ran 3.6 fantasy points below his own average. But context is everything. In Miami he was a complementary piece; in Denver he's the alpha behind the best offensive line in football. That's a role upgrade even if his raw talent stayed flat.
The rest of the division isn't sleeping. Kansas City's win total sits at 10.5 with Patrick Mahomes reportedly on track for Week 1 after shredding his knee last December, and the Raiders are rebuilding around Ashton Jeanty — our RB11 (#33 overall) after 975 rushing yards and 55 catches for 245 PPR points as a rookie. The Chargers, meanwhile, hand Justin Herbert his fifth OC in Mike McDaniel, who's projected to bump Herbert to 28 touchdown throws.
But from a fantasy lens, Denver is where the value hides. Nix is going off boards as a mid-tier QB (our QB11, #22 overall) precisely because last year's offense capped his ceiling. A new play-caller who wants tempo and a real WR1 are exactly the ingredients that turn a matchup-dependent streamer into a weekly starter.
The move: buy low on Bo Nix while the market still prices him on 2025's dink-and-dunk ceiling. His rushing floor already made him usable; if Webb's downfield element clicks, you're getting QB1 upside at a QB2 cost. Waddle is more of a WAT — draft him as a WR3 with a clear path to more, and let the first three weeks tell you whether the target share is real.
