Colts' Keenan Allen Arrested on DWI Charges Two Weeks After Signing

Keenan Allen's fresh start in Indianapolis hit a wall before he ever played a regular-season snap. The 34-year-old receiver was arrested around 1 a.m. ET Sunday in Indianapolis and booked on two charges — driving while intoxicated and DWI endangering a person — according to online jail records. He'd signed his one-year deal with the Colts less than two weeks earlier.
The timing stings on every level. Allen played Saturday night in the preseason finale against the Lions, catching one pass for 24 yards, then landed in jail hours later. Indianapolis opens the regular season Sunday, Sept. 13 at home against the Ravens, so there's a short runway for whatever comes next — league discipline, legal proceedings, or both.
This is a big name with a real résumé. Entering his 14th season, Allen carries 1,055 career catches, 12,051 receiving yards and 70 touchdowns — the former Cal star sits just 949 yards from the 13,000-yard club, a group with only 23 members ever. Last season (2025), back with the Chargers, he posted 81 receptions for 777 yards and four scores.
Why the Colts Wanted Him
Indianapolis reshaped its receiver room this offseason and Allen was supposed to be the veteran anchor. They extended Alec Pierce, then shipped franchise mainstay Michael Pittman Jr. to Pittsburgh. Faced with no proven target opposite Josh Downs and Pierce, they turned to Allen. Pierce, who came off the PUP list this week, is our WR26 (overall #78) after a 47-1003-6 line for 183 PPR points in 2025. Downs (WR42, #123) chipped in 58-566-4 for 138 PPR points.
The Fantasy Fallout
Allen was already a murky fantasy asset before this — a deep-league dart at best in a crowded, run-adjacent offense. Now there's a discipline cloud on top of an uncertain snap share. Pittman, meanwhile, walked into a bigger role in Pittsburgh and lands as our WR20 (#65) off a 200-PPR-point 2025, though his form dipped 4.5 fantasy points below his average over his last five games.
Bottom line for managers: don't spend a draft pick or a waiver claim on Allen until his availability is clear. If you own him, hold and watch for updates on charges and any league action. The safer Colts pass-catchers remain Pierce, whose last five games ran 1.7 fantasy points above his 2025 average, and Downs in PPR formats.
