TreVeyon Henderson's Ankle Keeps Him Out With Week 1 Three Days Away
The Patriots rookie hasn't practiced in nearly two weeks. If he can't go, Rhamondre Stevenson inherits a bell-cow backfield.

No practice in two weeks — wait on Tuesday's official designation.
- Henderson slipped on turf ~2 weeks ago, no practice since
- Second-round pick in 2025 draft
- Stevenson is next man up; Corey Kiner the only other RB active
- Official designation comes Tuesday
- Henderson posted 206 PPR pts in 2025 (17 games)
TreVeyon Henderson sat out practice again with an ankle injury, and with Week 1 just three days out, the clock is officially ticking in New England. The 2025 second-rounder slipped on the turf nearly two weeks ago and hasn't taken a rep since — not exactly the timeline you want from a guy you drafted as your RB2.
The stakes are real. Henderson posted 206 PPR points across 17 games last season (2025), good for our No. 60 overall and RB21, so this isn't a benchwarmer we're sweating over. The Patriots will drop another report Monday, with the official game designation — questionable, doubtful or out — landing Tuesday.
Also missing Sunday's session: defensive tackle Christian Barmore (knee) and offensive lineman Ben Brown (knee). Neither moves your fantasy needle much, but a shaky interior line doesn't help whoever's carrying the rock.
Stevenson Is The Handcuff That Matters
If Henderson can't go, Rhamondre Stevenson inherits a fat workload. Stevenson turned 14 games into 175 PPR points last season (2025) — our RB25, No. 86 overall — and he's been trending up, averaging +7.5 fantasy points over his last five outings versus his season mark. The depth chart behind him is thin: Corey Kiner (9 PPR points across four games in 2025, unranked) is the only other tailback on the 53-man roster, with Hassan Haskins and Lan Larison stashed on the practice squad.
That means if Henderson's out, Stevenson isn't just startable — he's a locked-in RB2 with league-winning upside for a week. There's essentially no committee to worry about once you get past him.
What To Do
Don't panic-drop Henderson — a slip-and-tweak ankle two weeks out doesn't torch a whole season, and his RB21 projection still holds if he heals cleanly. But manage expectations: wait for Tuesday's designation before you set your Week 1 lineup. Managers rostering Stevenson should be ready to fire him up the second Henderson gets an 'out' or even a 'doubtful.' If you're desperate at the position and Stevenson's still floating in your league, he's the priority add of the week.
